Meteora
Meteora is a seismic rock formation in central Greece containing one of the most precarious, inaccessible, and naturally beautiful monastic sites in all of Christianity.
Built by hermits over the course of centuries by hauling building materials up ladders and pulleys, the six Eastern Orthodox monasteries constitute some of the most remarkable feats of human endeavor anywhere on Earth, rivalling Stonehenge and the Pyramids of Giza in terms of the effort taken to construct.
