The UNESCO-listed Mycenae Archaeological Site was already inhabited in Neolithic times (circa 4000 BC), but reached its peak during the Late Bronze Age (1350-1200 BC), lending its name to a civilization known throughout the ages. Mycenae was the kingdom of Agamemnon, a legendary king who featured in the Iliad as one of the besiegers of Troy.
