Castel del Monte is a well-preserved 13th-century castle and citadel located on a large hill in Andria. Originally built by Emperor Frederick II, it's renowned for the perfection of its architecture and its fusion of cultural elements – as a result, it's listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and even appears on the Italian version of the one cent Euro coin!
