WWF Oasis Orbetello Lagoon
The Orbetello Lagoon Oasis was established in 1971, following the extraordinary discovery by Fulco Pratesi and Hardy Reichelt of a small nesting colony of stilt plover, a species long considered extinct in Italy.
The Oasis is located within a special area of conservation and the lagoon represents one of the most important European stations for migrations. At Orbetello you are surrounded by the unique charm of the wetlands, which have always inspired painters, poets and writers.
A visit to Orbetello Lagoon Oasis is a great first step to forming a deeper relationship with the natural environment.
