Located in the small village of La Escala, Girona, the Solés Anchovy Factory-Museum has been slating anchovies en masse since 1888! This proud family-run factory is open as a visitor centre, where guests will be captivated – hook, line, and sinker – by the art of anchovy-production.

One of the most important archeological sites in Catalonia – The Ruins of Empuries – are some mighty impressive Greek and Roman ruins located in a jaw-dropping location just behind the beautiful beach of Sant Marti de Empuries, in the Gulf of Roses on the Costa Brava. The Ruins de Empuries were once part of an ancient port city, known to the Greeks as Emporion (meaning market). It would have been a bustling hive of activity in the 6th century B.C. You can pay a visit with a season ticket for Catalonia's historical monuments.
