Memphis attractions

Graceland is a mansion on a 13.8-acre estate in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. It was once owned by the singer and actor Elvis Presley. Located at 3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard in the vast Whitehaven community, it's about four miles north of the Mississippi border. It was opened to the public as a museum on June 7, 1982, and has since become the second most-visited house in the US, after the White House, with over 650,000 visitors a year.

The Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum is dedicated to telling and preserving the story of America's musical roots. From the rural field hollers and sharecroppers of the 1930s to Memphis’ musical heyday in the 70s, the museum charts the evolution of American blues, soul, jazz, and rock music, and its incredible influence on popular culture around the world.

Stax Museum of American Soul Music recounts the story of Stax Records and the artists signed to their label, which includes the likes of Otis Redding. It is located south of Elmwood Cemetery.

The Memphis Music Hall of Fame is a music history museum renowned for housing a collection of artifacts and memorabilia from America's most famous musicians – namely from the genres of soul, blues, rock and roll, and pop. You'll find it in downtown Memphis between the Hard Rock Café and Lansky's clothing store (famous for outfitting Elvis on occasion).

The Woodruff-Fontaine House Museum is the historic former residence of the Woodruff and Fontaine families. This late Victorian mansion was built in the French style. Visitors can explore at leisure and learn what Memphis was like in the 19th century through a vast collection of period antiques, fashion, and furniture.
